Hi Landing Church. As Christians, we see so many divisions drive wedges between churches and within churches. Many of these divisions are petty. Frequently they are misguided. Some groups gather based on preferences for one bible translation over others. Some congregations will insist on dress codes. Many churches will align themselves with a political party. These divisions usually stem from focusing more on the law and focusing less on Jesus. This Sunday, I want to explore a division that Jesus draws. Join me on Sunday for a conversation on “grace Christians” and “karma Christians.” I pray we can all strive to be “grace Christians.” God bless, Tim
This Sunday is baptism Sunday. If you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, but have yet to be baptized, do it this Sunday. At Pentecost, after Peter had explained to the crowd who Jesus is and what He did for them, the text tells us they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” In Acts 2:38, we find our answer: “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” As Christians, we should desire to be obedient to Christ. The first step of obedience He wants us to take is to be baptized. Baptism is symbolic of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection and is a testimony to the world of your decision to bury the ‘old you’ and to be born again in Christ. If you haven’t been baptized, please reach out to a member of church leadership and let us know that you would like to be baptized this Sunday.
TJ Brado will share a message called "Don't Spectate, Participate!" this Sunday. God gave each of us a gift, are you using yours? Are you unsure what gift God has given you, or how you could serve? TJ takes a guilt free look into God's call to the body, and how God has placed something in our heart that can help others and help us experience the life and joy we didn't know we were missing. TJ was born and raised in North Pole and graduated from UAF. He met his wife Becca when he lived in Tennessee and kept bringing her to Alaska on vacation. Hello Wonderful People! I am so excited to speak to you this week about something so near and dear to my heart, well it's really near and dear to all of our hearts. In fact, it's in our hearts, it's love. When I last spoke to you we talked about our mission. The mission God has given us. This mission, should you choose to accept it, is a mission of love. It is clear that we are to love God, ourselves, and others. But why? We are all God's children, and just like children we ask why. The purpose of the message this Sunday is to answer that question: Why love? Among all the other things why is love the greatest, why is love the most important? I will cover the example God has given us of His love, what love - as a force - has conquered, and the place where love resides, the heart. We don't really ever stop to ask why love, we just accept it, but we need to know why. I look forward to seeing all of you this Sunday. Love You All, Derek
